Celebrating the Birth of the Black Baptist Church Convention in South Carolina
In 2018, while attending a plaque unveiling at The First Baptist Church of Charleston, Dr. Greene had a profound encounter with the past. That moment gave birth to this transformative documentary project.
Co-produced with Dr. Riggins R. Earl, Jr., this film tells the previously untold story of the Black Baptist Church’s emergence from slavery—through the lens of faith and endurance in the balconies of segregated churches.
Through scorching heat, limited funds, and a shared conviction to honor their ancestors, Dr. Greene and Dr. Earl uncovered a story of unwavering faith and Black excellence. This film is a call to remember, record, and reclaim.
